Hi everyone! Today we are talking about MyDearLove. First things first, let's clear up one thing: MyDearLove and Yumetenbo are not the same. At least in my opinion. Yumetenbo, the romanji for 夢展望, translates to Dream Vision. Dream Vision/Yumetenbo is MyDearLove’s parent company, meaning that Yumetenbo owns MyDearLove. MyDearLove is Yumetenbo’s most popular or flagship brand and is their most prominent brand on their social media platform. However, it is not the only brand they own. So, in summary, MyDearLove is owned by Yumetenbo and is the company’s popular brand; however, it is not its only one; therefore, they are not the same brand. It took me a bit to figure this out, and maybe I'm just a little dumb. But I've seen other girlies asking about this, so this is for the divas like me lol.

Now let's finally get to the fun stuff that doesn't hurt my brain as much. That was a lie; I had a hard time researching for this bit, too, and my head still hurts. Okay, I know I just said that DearMyLove and Yumetenbo are separate brands, but their histories are pretty tied together. So I will be covering a bit of Yumetenbo's history for fun, too. For the sake of brevity, I'll be calling Yumetenbo DreamV.

DreamV started in 1998 in Osaka as an e-commerce mail-to-order site selling cosmetics and kids' toys...? It seems like they were selling miscellaneous home goods during the very early years. They had their own website, a Rakuten storefront in 2003, and a Yahoo store in 2005, which closed in 2020. From looking through their website through the Wayback Machine, it seems that they started focusing on clothing in 2005. But it wasn't until 2011 that they launched their flagship brand, DearMyLove. They were mainly a Hime Kaji, Hime Gyaru, and Agejo brand in their early years. At the time, DearMyLove was popular for its super girly shoes. I want a pair of one of their boots so bad... but these shoes are old and tend not to hold up well.

Over the years, they have slowly lost the Gyaru look as the style grew less popular. Generally, around the late 2010s, their style leaned more towards Girly Kei. From 2016 to 2020, they collaborated with five different Sanrio times! There are too many items to show them all off in this post, but I might make a post to archive them all later on. When Jirai Kei hit the scene, DearMyLove became one of the iconic Jirai Kei brands. That's currently what their most well-known for.

Its first sub-brand, DearMyLoveRose, debuted in February of 2021. DearMyLoveRose is a French-inspired, girly, and elegant brand.

Later that year, in July, they launched another sub-brand named DearMyLoveWhip! This brand was made for their plus-sized ranges for DearMyLoveRose and MyDearLove. The brand offers the sizes 4L, 5L, and 6L.

On the opposite spectrum, LittleDearMyLove is a shrunk-down, smaller-sized version of DearMyLove for kids. The brand launched in 2022. I don't know how popular it is to dress your kid in Jirai Kei, but there's a market for everything.

In 2022, Milor Tokyo launched. Milor Tokyo is their more casual line. It has all the colors of Jirai Kei but more toned down with fewer frills. Perfect if you're looking to try out Jirai Kei, but aren't comfortable with wearing it out yet.

DearMyLoveEmily debuted in 2023. This one in particular is fun to me. The best way to describe this brand to me is if Lolita, Jirai Kei, and Ryousangata fused. I love seeing fun twists on styles!

This one is a wildcard. Deviants debuted in 2024 and is a punk, edgy, androgynous-focused brand. The style reminds me of ACDC rag or Tripp NYC! So far, none of the clothes from the brand are Jirai Kei, and not many are even girly at all. I'm curious why this was launched as a sub-brand of MyDearLove and not as a separate brand.

Though I have lots of love for the older pieces from this brand, I've heard they've had a less-than-stellar reputation, especially recently. They have a reputation for stealing designs from other brands and small artists for a while now. And they have this odd ChatGPT promotional post with a coupon code named after ChatGPT, and a weird thread of them trying to make the perfect Jirai girl using AI. As an artist, this was really disappointing to hear about, and I think I'll stick to buying things from them second-hand. I probably would have done that anyway since I rarely buy clothes new and I prefer the style of their old stuff, but it still sucks to hear about.

Here's my sources for this post. There aren't many for this one since I mostly used the Wayback Machine, but here it is: Dream V company history, Hime Gyaru / Hime Kaji / Hime Lolita's Facebook, Miss Neko blog, Wayback Machine, Shibuhara Glitter blog, DearMyLoveRose Instagram, DearMyLoveWhip Instagram, Milor Tokyo Instagram, Yumetenbo Instagram, LittleDearMyLove Instagram, and Deviants Instagram.

Hi everyone! It was strangely difficult to find information on this brand despite its popularity. The history page of its parent company’s website, Tamaya, does not include the date of the brand’s opening on its timeline. So I used the earliest archive available of the website on the Internet Archive.

Lodispotto is the epitome of office elegance! Sleek and simple, yet still girly. Lodispotto is a staple brand in an Otona girlie's closet. However, that's not all Lodispotto offers; Lodispotto has plenty of frills and bows, making it perfect for Himekaji and Ryousangata.

In 2017, they debuted their sub-brand, mille fille closet by LODISPOTTO. While the main brand is already very girly, mille fille closet pushes that girly-ness to the max!

They opened their next sub-brand, Luminous, in 2019. Luminous is the darker, edgier sister of mille fille closet. Though mille fille closet is more of something I would wear, something about Luminous is quite charming to me. Lodispotto creates really cute illustrations for their clothes, and I think the illustrations for Luminous are kind of the reason it appeals to me. I'm a big Vocaloid fan, and the art sorta reminds me of edgy Vocaloid music videos.

Lodispotto announced its closure on Twitter in 2021, with its sub-brands following suit. The brand suspended activity during the spring/summer season of that year.

MISS ME BY CHALING

Hi everyone! Today’s brand is Swankiss. Produced by Saaya Hayashida, their first store opened on the third floor of Shibuya 109 on March 8th, 2013. Swankiss was heavily featured in the girly magazine Larme, linking it to Larme’s style in the same way that early Liz Lisa was to Himekaji. They even collaborated in 2019 to make makeup for a free gift to accompany Larme's magazine. Kinda an odd choice for a magazine and a clothing brand, but it's not Swankiss's only strange collaboration.

In the same year, Swankiss also collaborated with Bodyline to create, drumroll please, Halloween costumes...? It's not a bad choice by any means. The costumes are pretty cute, but I'd really like to know how they settled on Halloween costumes lol. There were seven different costumes to choose from: Rabbit Ballerina, Like A Bear, Mysterious Sister, Cute Dalmatian, Lady Leopard, Chinese dress, and Heart Nurse. Personally, my favorite would probably be the bunny or the bear costume.

Usually, I like to go through the changes in style throughout the years, but Swankiss is one of those brands that kept a consistent style even in the end. There's not much to comment on other than cute, cute, and cute! Although their Shibuya location closed back in 2016, it was ultimately the pandemic that caused their closure in 2023.

Hello everyone! Today's brand is Bobon21! Pronounced as “bo-bon ni-juu-ichi,” Bobon21 was founded in 2014 by the designer Rimo, who is also the brand's main model. Although I have seen blog posts since 2013, the company's official website lists their launch date as 2014, so that's the year I will go with. It seems like the brand initially was a Himekaiji brand, but I don't think they stuck with it for long since the style I saw on their blog changed around 2015.

I think the clothes from this early era of Bobon21 are super cute! The stuff they make now is cute too, but it's not my thing. While they have their own website, they can also be purchased on Taobao and Aliexpress. I've heard their quality is pretty hit or miss, but I've never bought anything from them, so I can't comment on it. Their new stuff is more coquettish...? I think. I wouldn't call it J-fashion, at least. Their pieces could still be used for J-fashion, but are more reminiscent of Chinese fashion to me.

Here are additional links to websites I used: DeJapan, Aroma.jp, Value Press, Terrayla, and BonBonBunny.

Hi everyone! Today we're talking about Ank Rouge! Ank Rouge was launched in 2010 by the same parent company as Cecil McBEE, with the fashion model and blogger Rie Matsuoka (松岡 りえ) as brand director. Later that year, they opened their first store on the 6th floor of Shibuya 109. In the early days, the brand said it was aiming for an "antique gal" style, which I think is referring to Himekaji and Shiro Gyarus from what I saw in this 2012 Popteen fashion show and magazines from the early 2010s.

There was a shift in the late 2010s from somewhere around 2015 to a more Larme/Girly Kei and retro style. You can still see their Himekaji roots in the 2015 collections, but I think the style is still distinctly different, with less florals and more cherries and strawberries. A lot of their more well-known pieces come from this period. I would associate this era with more of a Lolita style than Gyaru. This shift might have come from Rie Matsuoka's departure from Ank Rouge in 2016, along with the decline of the Gyaru style.

Nowadays, Ank Rouge's style is more Jirai Kei and Ryousangata. But, they still use retro and vintage prints like their clothes from the 2010s, but with the Jirai silhouettes of their more recent stuff, like their 2025 April Cherry Berry Princess collection.

Here's all the stuff I read for this: FukuDB, Shibukei, Wikipedia, ESDARB, HEP FIVE, NIKKEI COMPASS, PR TIMES, ChatCast, The Name I Love, and Girls Women Info.

Hi everyone! Today's brand is a classic. If you've been into J-fashion for a while, you probably already know about Liz Lisa, but I wanted to write up a page for it since I'm partially using this blog as a list of J-fashion brands for myself.

(Liz Lisa 2012 Autumn catalog)                                                     (Liz Lisa Twinkle magazine scan)

Liz Lisa started in 1999, launching its first store in Shibuya 109. It was, and still is, very popular among gals. In the early days, they had a lot of ganguro and banba styles, and were later heavily associated with himekaji and hime gyaru when the sub-styles first popped up. They launched their sub-brands Tralala in 2003 and Liz Lisa Twinkle in 2004. Tralala was a bit edgier than main-line Liz Lisa, I would say it's a bit more ajego and rokku gyaru. On the other hand,  Liz Lisa Twinkle was all about being pretty, feminine, and cute. In 2005, the store Liz Lisa Fusion opened in Natori City in the Miyagi prefecture. It sold Tralala and Penderie pieces until 2016, when it closed.

The Liz Lisa Doll sub-brand was launched in 2006 and aimed at younger audiences in high school. In 2010, they held a runway show during Tokyo Fashion Week for a 2011 ready-to-wear spring/summer collection, which brought attention to the brand in Western fashion spaces. Their sister-brand JugeETTA was also launched in 2011, and was aimed at an older audience with a more mature and elegant look. In 2012, they released their first My Melody collaboration collection and have introduced many other Lizmelo collections since. In 2015, Primevère Liz Lisa was launched. Some of these sub-brands, however, I couldn't find much information about, but I thought it would be useful to include them for dating purposes.

Nowadays, Liz Liza's pieces are more jirai kei and ryousangata. Which makes sense since it is the more popular fashion style these days among youth these days, like gyaru fashion was when they first started. Though Himekaji has had a recent resurgence, so maybe they'll bring back some of those older styles. I'm not sure if they will, but a guy can dream (◞‸◟;)

The reading list for this one is long! Here it is: The Gyaru Wiki, Fashion Press, Vogue, Virtual Japan, Wikipedia Gyaru page, Wikipedia Liz Lisa page, WWD, Tralala blog, TWC, Liz Lisa Fusion blog, Liz Lisa Doll blog, Latte Fashion, Rakuten, Emiiichan, Bunny Crafty Dream, Amarie Bunny (great guide if you're starting out), The Name I Love (a more in-depth history from 1999-2009, highly recommend!).
